Clowns with red buttons
Entertainers in chief
What can I do?
I clean the house
Moved the Tupperware to the pantry
The kitchen towels to the bottom drawer
It is all ready now
For I don’t know what
My mother
Used to cover the television’s remote control with plastic wrap
So it doesn’t get greasy from our fingers
She covered the stove top with aluminium foil
So when it gets dirty from cooking
It can be removed
And like magic
It’s clean
If she could, she’d cover me too to protect me from germs and evil forces
It’s not waste, it’s protection
Life is too precious
Stove tops and remote controls
All over the world
Rejoice
For a defiant mother
Cradles and care for their kind
I am your child
My home is ready
And I am waiting in safety
For messy times
I am prepared
To die clean
